County Manager David Fanslau issued the following statement: “A temporary support beneath CB 364 was washed away by flood waters and the bridge will need to be closed. The bridge carries Friends Road (Town Highway 84) over Sugarloaf Brook in the Town of Neversink, and is currently posted for 5 tons. It is reported that there are no residents on the far side of the bridge – only a hunting camp.
The County will send a bridge crew out to replace the support early next week after the water levels have gone down. The bridge is constructed of timber stringers and deck.”
