(Fallsburg) — County Manager David P Fanslau has announced that the first informational meeting on the 2011 Tentative Sullivan County Budget will be held on Tuesday, November 23rd at the Fallsburg Town Hall in Fallsburg at 7:00 PM.
There will be at least six informational budget meeting that will be held throughout the County over the next few weeks. There will be informational meetings scheduled in the Town of Mamakating, Town of Highland, Town of Bethel, Town of Liberty, and Town of Rockland. There will also be two public hearings held at the Sullivan County Government Center in Monticello in December. The schedule of informational budget meetings will be forthcoming as they are scheduled.
“The public will be informed about the impact of New York State Government unfunded mandates that consume more than 85% of the Sullivan County property tax levy, with more than $20.5 million of locally generated tax dollars being sent to Albany just for Medicaid,” said Fanslau.
The informational budget meetings will be presented by County Manager David P Fanslau, Deputy County Manager/Commissioner of Management and Budget Joshua A Potosek, Legislature Chairman Jonathan F Rouis, and Chair of the Management and Budget Committee, Legislator Jodi I Goodman.
“The 2011 Tentative County Budget places taxpayers and residents first by freezing the property tax rate, reducing spending, and providing the services that the citizenry has come to deserve an expect,” concluded Fanslau.
