FEMA APPROVES SULLIVAN COUNTY FOR DISASTER AID FOR INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE (IA) FROM IMPACTS OF HURRICANE IRENE – PUBLIC ASSISTANCE FOR COUNTY, TOWN, AND VILLAGES EXPECTED   

(Monticello, NY) – Sullivan County Manager David Fanslau issued the following statement:  “Governor Andrews M. Cuomo has informed the County that The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved Sullivan County for Individual Assistance (IA) from the impacts of Hurricane Irene.  FEMA has opened toll-free telephone numbers for residents to report damage, and commence the application process for federal aid for damage to privately owned property from the impacts of Hurricane Irene.

Senator Kristen Gillibrand’s office has also been in contact with me this afternoon.  FEMA representatives performed a Preliminary Damage Assessment (PDA) of the damage to the County, Towns, and Villages for Public Assistance (PA) to aid in the repairs to the public infrastructure (roads, bridges, Etc.).  Senator Gillibrand anticipates a FEMA determination on PA for Sullivan County within about twenty-four hours.  I thank Governor Cuomo, Senator Gillibrand, and Congressman Hinchey for their efforts on behalf of Sullivan County.”
