Child Support   

The mission of the Child Support Enforcement Unit (CSEU) is to establish paternity for children born out of wedlock, to locate and investigate non-custodial parents to establish support obligations, to obtain Third Party Health Insurance for dependent children and to enforce, collect and disburse court-ordered support payments for each case where an appropriate application has been completed and accepted. 

The unit provides equal services for all Temporary Assistance, Medicaid, Title IV-E, Child Welfare foster care and private child support cases alike; pursuant to guidelines established by the federal, state and local governments.

The CSEU offers such services as:

Child Support Enforcement   

The Child Support Enforcement Unit (CSEU) was established pursuant to Title IV-D of the Social Security Act of 1975.  

The Child Support Standards Act (CSSA) took effect in 1989 and established the premise that every parent is responsible for financially supporting his or her children.  The CSSA also gave the CSEU a mandatory statewide guide to determine a non-custodial parent's ability to provide financial support for their child(ren). The CSSA chart determines the minimum support obligation a parent must pay based on a percentage-per-child of the non-custodial parent's income. Additional obligations can also be established for childcare, health and educational expenses. If a parent's income is limited, he/she may fall into the poverty level guidelines.
