Real Property Tax Services for the County of Sullivan is seeking to fill the following position:

Tax Map/GIS Technician

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for maintaining the county’s tax maps by plotting property lines from deed descriptions and maps, reviewing deeds, and maintaining the county’s real property records. Other responsibilities include maintaining the County E-911 database and creating maps using ESRI ARC GIS for purposes such as zoning, planning, etc. Knowledge of ESRI ARC GIS mapping software is desired.

Candidate must have graduated from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Geographic Information Systems, Land Surveying, or a related field and one year experience in surveying, drafting, or sub-professional engineering work involving drafting and GIS; An Associate’s degree and three years’ experience as described above; or graduation from high school or possession of a general equivalency diploma and five years’ experience as described above.

Salary $35,866; after 6 months $37,753.

Sullivan County Division of Public Works is seeking a DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION. This position involves responsibility for the administration and coordination of all aspects of the county run public transportation system. The duties include planning, developing, coordinating and directing the operation of a county-wide public transportation system. The incumbent will also be responsible for managing the purchase of service agreements and supervision of employees involved in the operation of buses and vans and related support services to ensure that the mission and goals of the Sullivan County Coordinated Transportation Services Plan are fulfilled. Incumbents will also be expected to use independent judgment to resolve specific transportation related problems, facilitate the further development and coordination of county-wide transportation services and implement the established transportation plan. The incumbent will ensure that the Transportation Department is in full compliance with Federal, State and local laws, rules and regulations governing the operation of public transit and paratransit services. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Commissioner of Public Works.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher and four (4) years of progressive experience in transportation, two (2) years of which shall have involved supervision; or an Associate’s degree or sixty (60) credit hours of college study and six (6) years of experience as described above, two (2) years of which shall have involved supervision; or possession of a high school diploma or a general equivalency diploma and eight (8) years of experience as described above, two (2) years of which shall have involved supervision. Candidates must possess an appropriate New York State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.

This position involves responsibility for the administrative direction and supervision for the investigators assigned to the Fraud Investigative Team; the investigation of criminal complaints both independently and in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies.
