Nutritionist – WIC (Per Diem)

Sullivan County Public Health Services is seeking to fill a vacancy for a per diem Nutritionist. This is a professional position involving responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating a nutrition education program for participants in a County public health program for pregnant, postpartum and breast-feeding women and parents or caretakers of infants and children (WIC Program).

Minimum qualifications: Either:

(a)Possession of a license or certification to practice as a Registered Dietitian; Or
(b)Possession of a Master’s Degree or PhD from a regionally accredited college or university in nutrition or public health with a concentration in nutrition; Or
(c)Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Nutrition, health-related field or home economics with an emphasis in nutrition with one year of WIC experience.

Salary: $ 18.9291/hour.     After 6 mos. $19.9252/hour.

Position is subject to civil service examination. Employee must certify to County residency within 6 months of appointment.

District Attorney's Investigator needed for the Sullivan County DA’s office. This position involves responsibility for the investigation of criminal complaints both independently and in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies.

(A) Possession of a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and four (4) years of experience as Police Officer with an MPTC or equivalent certification*, including extensive experience in Felony level criminal investigations as an investigator/detective, electronic surveillance, three (3) years of which shall have involved the supervision of other Police Officers; Specialized training to include homicide and death investigations, narcotics, investigations, covert surveillance training and sex crime investigations or (B) Possession of an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice and six (6) years of experience as described in (A) above, three (3) years of which shall have involved the supervision of other Police Officers; or (C) Possession of High School diploma or GED + ten (10) years experience as described in (A) above, three (3) years of which shall have involved supervision of other police officers.

Salary Range $40,000 to $60,000.

Sullivan County Division of Planning & Environmental Management is seeking an ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PLANNER. This is a mid-level professional planning position responsible for a diverse range of planning and economic development program functions. These assignments may include, but are not limited to, program planning, small business development, reporting and program evaluation, financial management, assisting in the development of economic and community revitalization plans and participating in the identification and application of State and Federal grants. Work assignments may increase in level of complexity and responsibility as the incumbents' professional competence increases.

Sullivan County Division of Public Works is seeking a JUNIOR CIVIL ENGINEER. This position involves performing advanced technical engineering work with responsibility for the independent application of principles of civil engineering, physics, advanced engineering mathematics and mechanics of materials to engineering problems. The employees may be in charge of project assignments or may be engaged in some special phase of engineering investigation. Supervision may be exercised over subordinate personnel assigned as part of a project team in the office or in the field.

The Division of Public Works maintains 385 miles of roadway and 400 bridges of varying sizes on its inventory.

Candidate must have graduated from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in civil engineering or a related field including courses in drafting and or computer aided design systems, and two (2) years of technical engineering experience which included drafting and or computer aided design systems; or graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate’s Degree in civil engineering or a related field including or supplemented by courses in drafting and or computer aided design, and four (4) years of experience as described above; or six (6) years of experience as described above.

The Sullivan County Adult Care Center is seeking applicants for the position of Supervising Social Worker. This is an important professional and administrative position involving responsibility for administering and supervising the social work services at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center Work is performed under the general supervision of the Administrator of the Adult Care Center. The work performed includes wide responsibility for independent action and programming and involves the supervision of subordinate professional, para-professional and clerical staff. Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, procedures and practices of social work and a thorough knowledge of the functioning of a residential facility and the scope of services rendered.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:

Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Master’s Degree in Social Work or other Human Services Field and Two (2) years of paid social work experience in a residential facility including one (1) year of supervisory responsibility; or Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited to by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in Social Work or other Human Services Field and Four (4) years of paid social work experience in a residential facility including one (1) year of supervisory responsibility.

NOTE: Must possess a current certificate or limited permit to practice social work in the State of New York. Only professional, post-master’s social work experience will be considered as qualifying experience. Supervisory experience must be practicing at the post-master’s level and supervision of professional social workers.

Public Health Nurse - This is a professional nursing position responsible for providing nursing assessment and education to clients in the community, public health clinic setting and in the home setting.  Incumbent assists in providing guidance to Community Health Nurses (Public Health) and Registered Professional Nurses Licensure and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State and a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or university and two (2) years clinical experience in home care, acute care or a field related to public/community health.

Registered Nurses - are needed to do home care, clinics, maternal child health, and public health programs.  We prefer nurses who are experienced, flexible and highly organized to further our mission of protecting and promoting the health of Sullivan County residents.  You must have a minimum of a registered nurse licensure in New York State, with experience in public health, acute care and/or home care desired.
