Director of Services – Sullivan County Department of Family Services is seeking the position for administrative oversight of family services, youth, and children’s programs provided by the county government including service programs administered through the local social services district. Incumbent will recommend case work policies and procedures and coordinate the functions of all staff assigned to perform all required functions of children, youth and adult social services as specified by Social Services Law and NYCRR. Work is performed under the general direction of the Commissioner of Family Services with frequent exercise of independent judgment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:

A)Master’s degree or higher in social work, public administration, business administration, social or behavioral sciences or related field and three (3) years of experience in social case work with a public or private agency adhering to acceptable standards, two (2) of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity; or
B)Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, business administration, social or behavioral sciences, or a related field and five (5) years of experience as required in (A) above; or
C)An equivalent combination of training and experience as described in (A) and (B) above.

Annual Salary: $70,000.

Position is a competitive class position which is subject to civil service examination. All new hires to County employment must certify to County residency within 6 months of appointment.

Employment & Training Specialist

This position involves responsibility for providing vocational guidance and related services to individuals participating in various aspects of a local Employment & Training program. Duties involve assisting participants in formulating and modifying employability plans, which may include remedial education, work experience, specialized skill training and related supportive services. In addition, duties involve developing training and placement opportunities with public or private employers and/or training institutions and monitoring or evaluating the implementation of employment and training programs.

Minimum qualifications: Either:

(b)Four years of experience in a position involving performing human services activities for a client or student population; or

District Attorney’s Investigator
- Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office. This position involves responsibility for the investigation of criminal complaints both independently and in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies.
 
(A)Possession of a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and four years of experience as Police Officer with an MPTC or equivalent certification*, including training in homicide and death investigations, narcotics investigations, covert surveillance training and sex crime investigations, with extensive experience in felony level criminal investigations as an investigator/detective, two years of which shall have involved the supervision of other Police Officers; or
(B)Possession of an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice and eight years of experience and training as described in (A) above, three years of which shall have involved the supervision of other Police Officers; or
(C)Possession of High School diploma or GED + 15 years experience and training as described in (A) above, 5 years of which shall have involved supervision of other police officers.

Salary Range $40,000 to $50,000.

Work is performed under the general supervision of a Case Supervisor or higher level department supervisor with extensive mandated training provided through the State and the Agency.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidate must meet one of the following: 1)Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the NYS Board of Regents with a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Public Administration, or a related field; or 2) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the NYS Board of Regents with a Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of experience as a Social Worker, Counselor, Caseworker or similar experience involving direct public contact in providing human services; or 3) A combination of training and experience as described in (1) and (2) above.

NUTRITIONIST

Sullivan County Public Health Services is seeking to fill full-time and/or part-time positions for Nutritionist. This is a professional position involving responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating a nutrition education program for participants in a County public health program for pregnant, postpartum and breast-feeding women and parents or caretakers of infants and children (WIC Program).

Minimum qualifications: Either:

(a)Possession of a license or certification to practice as a Registered Dietitian; Or

Public Health Nurse - This is a professional nursing position responsible for providing nursing assessment and education to clients in the community, public health clinic setting and in the home setting.  Incumbent assists in providing guidance to Community Health Nurses (Public Health) and Registered Professional Nurses Licensure and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State and a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or university and two (2) years clinical experience in home care, acute care or a field related to public/community health.
