The Sullivan County Community Services Board (CSB) is an advisory board appointed by the Sullivan County Legislature. The primary function of the CSB is to develop and approve the local services plans for mental hygiene services and advocate for services in Sullivan County. Appointment is for four years
Title E - Article 41
This article is to encourage local governments to develop in the community, preventive, rehabilitative, and treatment services offering continuity of care; to improve and to expand existing community programs for the mentally ill, the mentally retarded and the developmentally disabled, and those suffering from the diseases of alcoholism and substance abuse;”
Each local government unit (County) shall have a community services board concerned about the services to the mentally ill, mentally retarded and developmentally disabled and those suffering from alcoholism and substance abuse.
Composition of the Sullivan County CSB: There are 15 people appointed to the CS, of which “at least one person be a licensed physician and one member be a certified psychologist and otherwise at least two members be licensed physicians; such members to have demonstrated an interest in the field of services for the mentally disabled. The other members shall represent the community interest in all the problems of the mentally disabled and shall include representatives from community agencies for the mentally ill, the mentally retarded and developmentally disabled and those suffering from alcoholism and substance abuse. ”

All Subcommittees meet at least quarterly at various provider locations throughout the County. Subcommittee members may be people other than CSB Members. We encourage consumers and their family members to participate.
